Malayan Sun Bear

The sun bear has short, dark brown or black fur with a yellowish V shape on the chest.

The bear is about 4 metres long and 70 centlmetres hlgh at the shoulder.

It climbs trees, so it has large feet with long claws. The sun bear feeds on fruit, insects, small animals and vegetables.

The bear is feared by Indonesians, as it does attack fiercely when surprised.

The sun bear is believed to be extinct in its former habitat of India, and its numbers in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia are not known.
