Triathlon, Heptathlon and Decathlon

In the triathlon athletes swim for 1.5 kilometres, then they ride a bicycle for 40 kilometres. Last of all, the athletes run for 10 kilometres to the finish line. Triathlon was a new Olympic sport for men and women at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

The heptathlon is an event for women only, over two days. On the first day there is a 100 metre hurdle race, a high jump and a shot put.On the second day the athletes race over 200 metres, throw a javelin, long jump and run an 800 metre race.


The
decathlon is an event for men only, over two days. On the first day there is a 100 metre running race, long jump, high jump, shot put and a 400 metre race. On the second day there is 110 metre hurdle race, athletes throw a discus and a javelin, pole vault and run a 1500 metre race.
Decathlon was first included in the Olympics in 1904.
