The art of woodcarving is evident everywhere in Thailand, especially in the temples, where carved Buddha images and elaborate doors and roof gables can be seen.
However, wooden Thai furniture and traditional style buildings also feature elaborate carvings. Tables, chests, sofas and armchairs all feature intricate carved designs.
The carving is all done by hand by people working in factories. The woodcarvers start with simple designs, but as they become more accomplished, they are able to take on more complicated designs.
