Jungles

Jungle is a word used to describe the wildest parts of tropical rainforests.

Jungles form in parts of a rainforest where more light reaches the ground than in other parts of the forest. This extra light allows plants and vines to grow under the taller trees. The ground is soon covered by a thick, tangled growth of vines, shrubs and small trees. This is jungle.

Jungles are usually in places near swamps and rivers.

Jungles (and the rainforest) are home to more animal species and plants than anywhere else on Earth.
