Royal Flying Doctor Service: a kidcyber weblink page
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is the first and the largest air medical service in the world.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service was set up to in 1928 to give people living in the outback of Australia some medical help.
The founder of the service was Reverend John Flynn, a minister with the Presbyterian Church.
At first the service was known as Aerial Medical Service (later renamed the Royal Flying Doctor Service).
Today, The Royal Flying Doctor Service owns 50 aircraft, operating out of 22 bases across Australia.
The Service looks after nearly 240,000 patients. These are people who live, work and travel in remote areas of Australia.
