Death adders

death adders are very dangerous snakes

death adders live in Australia

death adders can grow to be between 50 and 90 centimetres long

death adders have long fangs

death adders give birth to live young

Death adders belong in the same snake family as cobras, coral snakes and mambas, which makes them one of the most deadly snakes in the world. They live in Australian bushland. During the day they hide under leaves and rock, which camouflage them. They are nocturnal (active at night) and lie coiled up ready to spring at prey.

You can read more about this snake and see photos here http://www.amonline.net.au/wild_kids/reptiles/death_adder.htm

First aid
For a person bitten by a death adder a first-aid technique known as
pressure immobilisation procedure should be used.

A tight bandage is placed on the bite, with a splint if the bite is to an arm or a leg. Keep the patient calm and as still as possible. Get medical help as soon as possible

There is an antivenom for death adder bites.
