Older style houses in Suzhou.
In this eastern Chinese city, as in most Chinese cities, older houses are being torn down and the people moved to new and modern high-rise apartments.

courtyard in an old part of Beijing. Each house consists of a
living room, 2 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. The houses are
owned by the government and the families pay rent.
