union in Ayrshire (Scotland) from age17. 1885 President of Gympie branch of miners' union . 1893 Queensland Parliament, Minister for Railways and Public Works 1901 Federal Parliament Minister for Trade & Customs in Watson government, then succeeded Watson as Leader of the party. 1908 Deakin lost election, & Fisher became Prime Minister, serving also as Treasurer. |
