1927. This was a temporary building on the shores of Lake Burley
Griffin.

| Notes | His 3rd term as PM was at the start of World War 1. He had a disagreement with Deputy Prime Minister Billy Hughes over conscription, which Hughes supported. He offered Hughes the position of High Commissioner in London. Hughes refused, it so Fisher resigned and took the position himself, until 1920. He made unsuccessful attempts to be elected to parliament in Scotland, then Australia. Died 1928. |

Waterside Workers Federation. 1894 NSW Parliament 1901 Federal Parliament 1904 Minister for External Affairs, later Attorney General, a portfolio he retained while Prime Minister. 1916 Lost referendum for conscription , was expelled from Labor Party for supporting it. 1917 Formed the New Nationalist Party, which was successful at elections that year, but later that year 2nd referendum for conscription failed. 1923 Country Party held balance of power, forced his resignation. 1934 Minister in Lyons' United Australia government . 1944 Expelled from United Australia Party , joined new Liberal Party. Died 1952. |
