1945 Became Prime Minister & also Treasurer after death of Curtin. Won 1946 election.
1949-51 Leader of the Opposition .
Died 1951.

 Party  Liberal
 Born  Jeparit, Victoria 1894
 Education  Wesley College (Melbourne), Melbourne University
 Profession  Barrister
 Notes  During war, he combined anti-Labor groups and formed the Liberal Party 1944.
1949 Won government with large majority , and became Australia's longest-serving Prime Minister, successful in 7 consecutive elections.
Queen Elizabeth made him member of Order of the Thistle 1963, and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.
Retired at age 71, died 1978.
