Meerkats are not cats.
They are small animals that live in Africa.
They have pointy faces and dark fur around their eyes.
The have long tails.
They move on all four legs, but can stand on their back legs.
Meerkats live in big groups.
They dig burrows in the ground.
In the daytime, meerkats dig in the ground looking for food.
One meerkat keeps a lookout for danger.
They take turns to be lookout.
Meerkats eat bugs, caterpillars, small birds and roots.
When there are babies, the whole group helps look after them.
