| Australian Animals: Zoo introduction | Name: |
Setting the
Scene
You are an Australian native mammal, bird or reptile and you are to go to a zoo in another country.
You need to tell the zookeepers
there about yourself and how to care for you.
Resources
Go to these sites and choose what
animal you are going to be:

You may find other sites and also use books to research your chosen animal.
Your Task
Notes
Go here and download the data chart where you will make notes as you research your chosen animal.
Written Report
Use your notes to write a report about the animal, its habitat and needs. This will be the basis of your final presentation. In your report you must note the sources of your information. If you like, download a Zoo Animal Introduction Page here to help you prepare your final report for the zoo.
Design your enclosure at the zoo, making drawings, map or even a model of it. Assume that money is no object, and that there is plenty of space. The drawings, maps or model will form part of your final presentation. If you like, you can design your own multimedia presentation on computer .
Presentation
Speaking as the animal, you will give a talk to the class, who will pretend to be people from the overseas zoo you are going to. They may ask questions at the end of your talk.
| Tell the zookeepers how to recognise you. | Talk about your size, shape, colour, covering and features. Include drawings or photos. |
| Tell them what features the enclosure they are getting ready for you will need to have to suit you. | Talk about the habitat where you live in the wild. What activities must the enclosure enable you to do that you do in the wild? What shelter must be provided? |
| Tell them what they will feed you. | Talk about what you eat in the wild. |
