When all the animals of one kind are gone, they are extinct.

Extinct means gone forever.

Dinosaurs are extinct. They died because the weather changed but the dinosaurs could not change how they lived so they all died.

These are woolly mammoths.

They are extinct.

People hunted and killed animals such as the dodo and the thylacine until they had all gone.
