K is for Koala

A koala looks like a bear, but it is not a bear!

A mother koala keeps her baby inside a pouch after it is born.

A pouch is a bit like a pocket in front.

Baby koalas drink milk inside the pouch.

When they are bigger, they ride on their mother's back.

Koalas have thick fur and big noses.

They have big claws to help them climb trees.

Koalas only eat leaves from some kinds of gum tree.

They hardly ever drink water.

They sleep most of the day in a tree.

At night they come down to the ground and move to another tree.
